Historical Overview

The historical significance of this site will be further highlighted by allocating part of the ground floor of the historic building to the Ustroń Museum, preserving its legacy for future generations.

1802 - 1804

The first building on the site of Park Residence (Rezydencja Parkowa) was constructed between 1802 and 1804 and was one of the first brick buildings in Ustroń. The ground floor housed a bathhouse offering steel slag baths (using post-smelting slag mixed with water), one of three recommended therapeutic treatments in Ustroń at the time.

1868

In 1868 an extension known as the “Kuracyjny Salon” was added to the Kurhotel building, quickly becoming the social and entertainment hub of the resort. A bowling alley was also built on the border with the adjacent Kuracyjny Park.

1910

By 1910 the spa complex was acquired by a Silesian peat bath company–Śląskie Kąpiele Borowinowe Ustroń–which converted the building into a restaurant with a hotel. During the 1930s, the venue became famous for its seasonal dance events.

1945

After World War II the building was repurposed as a base for the Border Protection Troops. The Kuracyjny Salon was converted into stables during this period.

1960 - 1969

In the 1960s, the property was restored to its original hospitality function and operated by PT “Czantoria” as a hotel and restaurant.

It also housed the “Żywiecki Bar” beer hall.

1980 - 1999

During the 1980s and 1990s, the building underwent multiple renovations and ownership changes but never regained its former prestige. Eventually, it fell into disrepair.

2010

Although the original spa institution founded by Prince Albert Casimir of Habsburg is now part of history, the architectural heritage remains. The historical fabric of the site will be carefully restored, now under a new name and with a renewed purpose.

2020

The Ustroń Museum will take over part of the ground floor of the historic building, ensuring that its legacy is preserved and appreciated for years to come.
